The Bad Skin Habits Which Are Causing You Acne Problems
Acne is a condition which results in pimples or spots, where oil and bacteria clog the pores in your skin. Two of the main causes of acne are your hormones and your genes, which unfortunately you don’t have any control over.
However, the severity of your acne and the frequency of your breakouts are also affected by your habits. Many people have bad skin care habits and don’t realize how much these actions are making their acne worse. If you have any of the following skin care habits, try changing your routine and watch your acne improve.
Washing Your Skin Too Much
You might think that you are helping your acne by vigorously scrubbing it with harsh soap several times per day. However, you are actually making it worse because you are stripping your skin of its natural oils. The skin must work overtime to replace these oils which results in oily and blocked pores.
You only need to wash your face once in the morning and once at night before bed, with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser.
Popping Your Spots
When you have a juicy whitehead forming on the end of your nose, it is so tempting to squeeze it until it pops. However, as you are doing this you are spreading the bacteria inside the pimple around and forcing it deeper into your skin.
Try to resist the temptation to pop and use a warm cloth to encourage the pimple to drain on its own. You can also use a topical anti-acne cream.
Not Getting Enough Sleep
Do you have a bad habit of staying up late watching funny videos on YouTube when you need to get up early in the morning? Sleep is when your skin repairs itself, so a chronic lack of sleep will leave your skin unhealthy and make it more susceptible to pimples and other problems. Make sure that you go to bed early and get the rest you need.
Not Doing Your Laundry Often Enough
When is the last time you washed your sheets and pillow case? If it’s been a while, you are rolling around for 8 hours per night pressing your face into a bunch of dead skin cells and bacteria! Try changing your pillow case once or twice per week and using fresh towels whenever you dry yourself off and see what a difference it makes in your acne.
These are just a few simple habits that you can change to improve your acne issues and have clearer and more beautiful skin.
