5 Reasons Why You Should Read Novak Djokovic’s Book “Serve to Win: The 14-Day Gluten-Free Plan for Physical and Mental Excellence”
You do not have to be a sportsman or sportswomen to want to read this book. You do not have to be a tennis player as well. You do not have to love tennis at all. Moreover, you do not have to enjoy sports. This is not a magic book written by one of the world’s most talented tennis players ever.
Perhaps, this is not even a book for sport freaks, fitness professionals, or wannabe fitness fanatics. This is not a book about one-diet-fix-all solution. This is not a book that offers a solution for everyone, on the contrary, this is a book that emphasizes that we are all different, that our bodies are different and our minds are different as well. Then, why should you read it?
Well, the book is written beautifully, in a very simple way, it is also easy to read, it is a personal experience from one of the best players in the world, and it is better to read this book than any other book with similar subject especially due to the many entertaining background stories. As for the five reasons I appreciate this book, see below.
Let me start with one simple fact: Novak Djokovic is one of the best tennis players in the world, and for me, as a tennis fan, this can be the first reason why I should read this book. If you disagree, stay with me, because there are more reasons that could change your mind.
In the book Djokovic describes a gluten-free diet that helped him become the world’s No. 1 tennis player. Gluten poses a healthy treat for many people, though, doctors and nutritionists emphasize that gluten-free diet can also have a negative impact on person’s health. What is very important is that Djokovic is not saying that this diet could help everybody, he is just sharing his experience, and for those who have an intolerance to gluten, or suffer from gluten sensitivity, this personal experience can be very helpful.
Apart from the gluten-free diet, Djokovic also emphasizes the need to keep your body healthy, strong, and in shape, and he offers some very simple exercises, sharing his working out routine. All the exercises he mentioned, and described, are probably the exercises many of us are familiar with. On the other hand, these simple exercises are very powerful, and we tend to forget that.
The part of the book that I like very much is a part where he shares his ideas and thoughts about mental strength, underlining that physical health is as much important as mental health. In this part, he explains the importance of finding certain techniques, or routines, which would help combat stress, and anxiety, whether it is just the way we think, or mediation. The book is beautifully written, and in a way it is a motivational literature.
Finally, Djokovic shares some great and interesting recipes everyone should try, and some helpful suggestions. Whether you decide to eliminate gluten or not, the recipes are really great and you will find great recipes for salads, and frappe smoothies.
The book reviews differ, as always, however, read the book, and decide for yourself.
